Shanghai Behind The Scenes Clip

Shanghai is an upcoming movie starring John Cusack and three other Asian star actors Gong Li, Chow Yun-Fat and Ken Watanabe. The movie set in Shanghai, China, in the 1940's, mixing romance, thriller and mystery, is directed by Mikael Hafstrom. It should be released at the end of December 2008.

The Plot:
"In the months leading up to the bombing of Pearl Harbor, an American man arrives in Shanghai to find his friend recently murdered. In investigating his friend's death, he stumbles upon a secret the United States government has been keeping and falls in love in the process." (Source: Wikipedia)

Shooting began on location in Shanghai. But the Chinese government revoked the production team's authorization to film. The set was hence forced to move. They settled down in Bangkok before moving to the UK for a few scenes.

Despite great names in the cast there is not that much buzz around Shanghai so far. So the December release of Shanghai is not yet definitely confirmed...

In the 1930's and early 1940's Shanghai was like a magnet for people in quest of Asian adventures. The city was an astounding mix of European, American, Japanese and Chinese influences.

Judging from the nice picture of the movie Shanghai showing John Cusack in intimate conversation with Gong Li I think Director Mikael Hafstrom has been able to somehow reproduce this marvelous atmosphere!
